Please and thank you

If you haven’t already heard, we are one step closer to living a Wes Anderson colourful dream. I am already making future plans in my head to fly over to Milan in my milkmaid braids and sharp camel coat. As well as sip my coffee, hide behind a newspaper and people watch, but hey that’s just me.

Wes Anderson is one of my all time favourite directors, his films consist of witty humor, sharp content, swinging camera angles and complementary colour pallets. My gosh the colour pallets, as a designer the colours in his films are a delight to the eyes. His heroines are always interesting and rarely take on the damsels in distress type characteristics, and the men are unconventional, however provide great intrigue and entertainment.

Bar Luce  is part of the Fondazione Prada new development of their art and culture hub. It was designed by the director himself, the colours and furniture takes on 1950s and 1960s designs, as well as Italian pop culture, while still retaining a old age of Milan architecture in its archways.

‘there is no ideal angle for this space. It is for real life, and ought to have numerous good spots for eating, drinking, talking, reading, etc. While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in.’

Here are some sneak peeks from inside the cafe itself, with some qoutes from some of Wes Anderson films. Also if you manage to be passing through Milan, Bar luce is open throughout the week from 9am to 10pm. Enjoy.

“Rudeness is merely an expression of fear. People fear they won’t get what they want. The most dreadful and unattractive person only needs to be loved, and they will open up like a flower. “
